By installing the free DD-WRT firmware on a router, you can turn it into a wireless repeater or bridge. This means that even devices that can't reach your main router wirelessly connect through

DD-WRT is a third-party firmware designed as an upgrade for the limited firmware A Client Mode router uses its own DHCP server for IP Address, Gateway, and DNS server to connected devices. To have computers connected to both routers (main and secondary) and co-exist in the same subnet, set up DD-WRT as a Client Bridge, Repeater Bridgeor use WDS. Further explanation of bridging modes is at Linking Routers. DD-WRT is really a powerful router firmware and one of many cool things you can do with it is – to setup a WiFi repeater bridge. About. In the case in which we are interested, a wireless device running DD-WRT such as a WRT54G is configured as a Wireless Bridge between a remote wireless router (of any make/brand) and the Ethernet ports on the WRT54G. The problem is misconfiguration of the 2nd (client) DD-WRT router, as it simply doesn't know how to forward clients from its subnet (192.168.1.X) to the 1st router (192.168.14.1). Using tracert I have been able to verify that this is indeed the problem. But I don't know what (and how), out of the zillion settings in DD-WRT, to change. Luckily, most iterations of the DD-WRT firmware offer a solution. This trusty open-source firmware has a feature called a repeater bridge. With DD-WRT, a wireless bridge connecting two LAN segments is possible using a wireless link. The two segments are on the same subnet, allowing broadcasts to reach all machines.
